Placebo - For What It's Worth

For What It's Worth by Placebo

1...according to our on Thu 28 May, 2009.

What on Earth have Placebo done? I used to like 'em? The first album and maybe a few other tracks were pretty good and this new single 'For what's It's Worth' is really average soft rock music. The only distinguishable thing from early Placebo and this is his voice.... Well I suppose there's drums and guitars in there but that's it. This is really bad.... Oh and the cover of Nik Kershaw's 'Wouldn't It be Good' on the CD single really has to be heard. It straddles the line of being both entertaining (for the wrong reasons) and disturbing at the same time. I'm off for a shit.

After the huge success of their free title track giveaway (over 100K downloads from their website) Placebo are releasing the first single from the album, and their first commercial release as independent artists since their departure from Virgin.
‘For What It’s Worth’ embodies the urgency, optimism and colour that characterises the new album, produced this time by Dave Bottrill.
Available on CD single, digital download and 7” picture disc (limited to 1000 copies) – all featuring a cover of Nik Kershaw’s ‘Wouldn’t It Be Good’ as the B-Side.
The track received its first play to much acclaim from Zane Lowe on Radio 1, with plays following from various shows on XFM and Absolute.
The band kick off a summer of headline festival dates with a small UK tour of warm up shows, taking in Bournemouth, Sheffield and London 02 Acadamies. The band return for Rockness and Reading and Leeds Slots shortly after.
With a thirteen year history that takes in five studio albums, ten million album sales, breakdowns, clean ups and the dizzy swell of global success, Placebo are still brimming with new ideas.
