Silhouette is the mysterious musical alter ego of Leeds singer Helena Gee.
Now relocated in London, Helena's music combines a sinister guitar sound, influenced by the likes of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, with the lyrics/pop melodies of old girls groups such as the Shangri-Las and The Crystals.
'Masquerade' is the first single by Silhouette and has already achieved praise from magazines such as Artrocker and NME, which in fact put it in their top ten singles of the week.
But Helena isn't a stranger to critical acclaim, as prior to the creation of Silhouette she was in the all girl band The Ivories, who released 2 sold out singles, supported the likes of Placebo and Sisters Of Mercy, and even wrote some songs with Basement Jaxx, before prematurely splitting up.
Helena will be touring the UK again with her new project Silhouette throughout May and June, with highlights which include a big event in Leeds featuring the Maccabees and Wild Beasts as well as the Eurocultured Festival in Manchester.
