International Broadcaster by Lee Perry ft. Roots Manuva vs. The Moody Boys

We got some promo 12"s of Lee Perry ft. Roots Manuva & LSK Vs. The Moody Boys doing 'International Broadcaster'. I was watching some Lee Perry interviews on Youtube earlier this week. Man that guy is on another planet. This tune's not bad at all, solid, heavy drums and a grinding bassline and all the delay and echo in the right places. It's not gonna blow you away but a decent enough party tune. Comes with obligatory version on the flip. Out through On-U Sound.

This second outing in the series of special remix 12”s from Lee Perry’s ‘The Mighty Upsetter’ album finds Tony “Moody Boyz” Thorpe back at the controls, and this time he’s brought his full kit of soundsystem tools along to the job. Rocking the spot on an uptempo steppers rhythm, his fired-up take on ‘International Broadcaster’ is a tight-sprung burst of bogle energy, laying righteous claim to the ground where dancehall’s brash excitement meets dubstep’s plunging bass dynamics.

Awash with selectah sounds and mile-long reverb delays swirling around a monster sub-bass undertow, an insistent funkin’ for Jamaica beat drives the ride while a slick sing-jay hook from LSK rotates to habit-forming effect. With the added attraction of Mr Scratch and Mr Manuva doubling on abstract deejay instructions – “adjust your face … adjust your waist” - the propulsive five minute sunsplash of ‘International Broadcaster’ will kick up dust in every yard where they do the reggae clap. No-vocal version excursion on the backside ups the needles to red on the dubwise meter for extra soundboy satisfaction.
