I've been a fairly avid supporter of the Leeds Dub scene over the years but don't really know a great deal about the rich history of this valuable Jamaican export apart from having checked out a few major players & mashed my abdomen in from standing in close proximity to Iration Steppas 10,000K guerilla sound system. My education is about to be expanded with the new 'Dub Echoes' comp on Soul Jazz but Brett's eaten CD1 in a fit of mentalism so i've only got CD2 to go on. The general concept is old masters Vs. contemporary producers, picking the cream of modern fusion classics from the long road stretching from Kingston to Berlin via London. This well sequenced set includes a couple of my faves such as LV Ft. Dandelion's CCTV, Kode9 & Space Ape's 'Sine of the Dub' and 'Sega Beats' from 8 bit rockers Disrupt. There's also sublime cuts from Rhythm & Sound, Upsetters, Cotti, King Tubby & the Aggrovators, U-Roy w/ Francois Kevorkian, Harmonic 313 & old players Dub Syndicate. I feel Dub is just so timeless & spiritually essential as a musical force and it's lovely to see well researched and presented compilations such as this. So double disc & triple vinyl to follow soon!!Soul Jazz Records journey into Dub and beyond with a new DVD film celebrating 40 years of Dub and
