John Foxx & Robin Guthrie - Mirrorball

Mirrorball by John Foxx & Robin Guthrie

4...according to our on Fri 08 May, 2009.

I was amazed to find out that all time hero/ pioneer/ legend/ visionary and synthesizer wizard and original Ultravox man John Foxx had collaborated with Robin Guthrie. At 62 years of age this man has still got it although he's on vocal duties here while Guthrie busts out his trademark dreamy and emotional guitar sounds. The opening track floored me, Foxx's vocals are sublime and continue to be throughout. So incredibly soulful they make my body tingle. It's sounds kind of religious/ holy in a way. Sadly he's left his synths at home but Guthrie is more than competent so the pairing works magnificently. Gorgeous music 180g audiophile vinyl limited edition of 1000 copies with numbered John Foxx print. One for the grown ups like. Phil is reminded of Sigur Ros which I thought was worth mentioning. If you dig Cocteau Twins, Harold Budd and stuff then you may well 'Mirrorball'.

John Foxx & Robin Guthrie's collaboration was an idea that began when the pair performed at a Harold Budd concert in May 2005. Layers of echoes and reverberations are explored on Mirrorball, so that Guthrie's unique playing merges with abstract, often improvised vocals courtesy of Foxx.

Beautifully packaged Limited Edition 180g VINYL release via Hydrogen Dukebox – Limited to 1000 Vinyl albums Worldwide
