More Upset the Rhythm action!! Yes!! O.k, so i'm quite familiar with Future Islands as i've seen them live a couple of times. One thing i notice is that the vocals are much crazier than they sound live than they do on 'Feathers and Hallways'. 'Pinocchio' has a really strangely forced and heartfelt sound that grates more than it should but the track is still awesome with it's minimal combination of electronic beats and bass melody. 'The Happiness of Being Twice' is a full on Amateur house music type tune which is both melodic and pumping in a perverse sort of way. It's like casio indie pop pumped up for clubs with added Hooky style baselines. I guess you'd call it new wave house music? Awesome live and hinting at greatness come record number two, this is a hint of what to come. Lovely art, pressed in heavy white vinyl. Tasty.Future Islands are a bittersweet new wave pop band from North Carolina, USA.
With this brand new limited edition white vinyl double A-side single the group allow us to glimpse some of the poetic grandeur and heartfelt melody that they are readying for their second album.
Future Islands are masters of marrying upbeat songs with soul searching lyrical content and the Feathers & Hallways 7 inch is their best example yet.
This 7 inch follows their debut full-length for Upset The Rhythm entitled Wave Like Home.
