Rapoon/ Relapxych.0 - Split

Split by Rapoon/ Relapxych.0

4...according to our on Thu 16 Apr, 2009.

Rapoon have a cool split with Relapxych.0. It's been released in a numbered edition of 200 copies with one side of each sleeve having a unique painting by a child/teenager some of whom are mentally handicapped. You'd never know it though as the pieces we have are gorgeous and way better than anything I could do. I guess that begs the question who really has the handicap? Creativity knows no bounds. Anyway as you'd expect the music is superb. The first side is by Swedish project Relaxych.0 and is a long mystical drone piece with very distant and subtle percussion. At times I'm reminded of a more stripped down Astral Social Club. The piece becomes darker and more brooding towards the latter half and then goes a little psychedelic. The Rapoon track 'Lost Terrain' appears to be drawn from Robin Storey's archives and is a wonderful treated piano piece with manipulated vocal samples. Then some darker ambient soundscapes prevail towards the end. Then we get a remix of 'Lost Terrain' from A.P/spatialXpansion who treat the original sounds with care and respect. They add some Coil style electronics into the mix. Great stuff and won't be around for long. Out on Psych.KG/Droehnhaus.
