Jon Hopkins - Insides

Insides by Jon Hopkins

· ‘Insides’ is Jon Hopkins’ first album in four years, and his
debut for Double Six. The album is about strange contexts:
natural, arcane textures welded to uneasy rhythms. Beautiful
acoustic melodies set against jarring bass. It’s an audacious
record with a modernist lustre and magical aura all of its own.
Think Four Tet meets Autechre with huge melodies.
· Jon is also a highly prolific producer, working on Coldplay’s
last album and indeed supporting Coldplay worldwide on tour
across the globe last year. His audience is growing massively,
and he has also just completed the soundtrack to the new
Peter Jackson movie ‘Lovely Bones’ with Brian Eno. As if
that isn’t enough, he’s just been recording with jazz legend
Herbie Hancock. You can hear all these influences, all be it
in a wonderfully accessible manner, on the new record.
