We Were Promised Jetpacks - Quiet Little Voices

Quiet Little Voices by We Were Promised Jetpacks

3...according to our on Thu 30 Apr, 2009.

We Were Promised Jet packs play driving, melodic indie rock with disco beats much like Editors or Bloc party. 'Quiet little voices' is both epic in scale and grand in it's delusions. They do have a good point though, we we're promised Jetpacks and flying cars for that matter. I assumed i'd be living in what looks a like air-traffic control tower in the middle of a deeply tree populated forest like Endor living a utopian existence in harmony with my environment. What the fuck happened there? I don't even have a fucking hover board. Maybe Michael J. Fox has the prototype from Back to the Future he could pass on to me, i don't reckon he'll be doing much hovering nowadays...bless him. The chorus on 'Let's call this a map' sounds well like early Strokes but whats the point in releasing demo's on vinyl nowadays...put it up your myspace, wax is expensive so save it for the good stuff.

· Following closely in the footsteps of The Twilight Sad and Frightened Rabbit, We Were
Promised Jetpacks (WWPJ) are yet another hugely talented young Scottish band added to
the FatCat roster.
· This is We Were Promised Jetpacks’ debut single, preceding the full-length ‘These Four Walls’.
It was recorded by Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Cocteau Twins, David Bowie, Queen).
· Mixed by Peter Katis (Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad, The National).
· Before even releasing a single, a well recorded three-track demo was circulated and managed to
pick up a KEXP track of the day in the States, and plays on national stations in the UK were
popping up on XFM, BBC and Q radio.
· WWPJ toured through September 2008 as main support for Frightened Rabbit and garnered
some great live reviews. The band will also be main support at Frightened Rabbit’s Scala show
in April.
· The band have been reviewed by NME, featured as Q’s Track of the Day and been played on
Zane Lowe to great acclaim.
· WWPJ played at the Scottish Music showcase alongside Primal Scream, The Proclaimers,
Camera Obscura and Glasvegas, and were featured by lots of blogs / zines at SXSW where
the band succeeded to cause a buzz.
· “It's (Quiet Little Voices) a blistering post-punk anthem of the highest pedigree: powerful and
tuneful in just the right measures, with lead singer Adam Thompson's understated vocals
keeping proceedings in check just as they threaten to spiral out of control.” – Q, “We Have Lift
Off” – NME.

ahh..finally this gets a proper release, it's one of the finest songs of the year 2008, hands down.. this is more upbeat version of The Twilight Sad.. I reckon this will be Normans single of the week..
