Magnetic North Duo are a couple of Norwegian sound explorers, 'Static Fields Forever' is documentation of a set live at Tou, Stravanger recorded late last year. The duo consists of Sindre Bjerga and Nils Rostad and between them they use bass, tape loops, electronics and guitars to create jazz inspired improvised soundscapes and slices of noise. The album is essentially one twenty five minute piece of explorative space adventuring! It starts off slow and steady with a few cheeky guitar motifs over rumbling tape loops and sounds that eventually open up to engulf the ears whilst further disorientating the listener with strange, backward guitar stabs and delay soaked vocal drones. Changes are subtle, mysterious and occasionally unnerving yet the duo manage to maintain my interest throughout. An interesting document of two guys attempts to master perfect sound.Debut release from Norwegian unit comprised of Sindre Bjerga on bass, electronics, tapes, and Nils Rostad on guitar. A zoned and droned out blast of a journey into other worlds yet unexplored. True mastery over sound is the goal here and these two have a stellar set of techniques helping them rise to the challenge. A mesmerizing and very rich sounding sculpture of auditory bliss. From a live set recorded in Norway, this is a project we are incredibly proud to be releasing.
