Various (Lali Puna, Isan, Sin Fang Bous etc.) - Not Given Lightly: A Tribute to Giant Golden Book of New Zealand's Alternative Music Scene

Following Morr Music's tribute compilations to Morrissey and Slowdive, this compilation is a tribute to the 1980s indie scene of New Zealand. Flying Nun, Xpressway, IMD or Corpus Hermeticum were the names of the labels; The Clean, The Chills or Tall Dwarfs the names of the bands - indie-pop and garage songs with an lo-fi Antipodean twist, a direct influence on bands around the world such as Pavement, Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth. Now the Morr Music family has made them to their own in a fantastic way - "Not Given Lightly - A Tribute to the Giant Golden Book of New Zealand's Alternative Music", where Morr's electronica and indie-pop artists have interpreted songs like "Not given lightly" by Chris Knox or "Pink Frost" by The Chills in their own way, and produced tracks in the spirit of that early New Zealand DIY ethos.
