Je Suis Animal have a 7" out on Angular of female fronted melodic jangly indie pop called 'The Mystery of Marie Roget'. I haven't a clue what to say about this other than the band released a well received 7" on Cloudberry and an album on Angular. Phil has suggested I write about animals made of swiss rolls. Not one to disobey the gaffer... There was a little baby tortoise made of jam and sponge cake and then it got run over by a lorry. Job done.· ‘The Mystery Of Marie Roget’ is a melodic pop-pearl of a song,
apparently sweet and breezy but revealing, with lyrics inspired by
an Edgar Allen Poe novel of the same name. ‘The Mystery Of
Marie Roget’ has an accompanying video made by director Amund
Hesbøl. Set in the late 1920s, the video draws inspiration from
Bunuel and Dali’s surrealist classic ‘Un Chien Andalou’, and can
be viewed at jesuisanimal.com.
· ‘Secret Place’, on the other hand, is a joyous rush of dreamy
vocal cocooned within a stinging wall of guitar. The sound of a
sleepless and dizzying summer days.
