Polly Jean Harvey & John Parish have album "highlight" 'Black Hearted Love' out as a single and if you haven't heard it yet then you're probably not interested are you? Or maybe you had your ears stolen as an infant only to be replaced with entirely useless mini traffic cones fixed to some wire mesh head shaped assemblage. It's a brooding, mid-paced bluesy rocker with a fine PJ vocal and some squalling guitar bits. It's always her voice that does it, the song would probably be a bit of a plodding duffer were it not for her impassioned, velvety wail. She still makes various parts of me stand to attention after all these years but this song isn't quite as alarming as the one off the album where she's screaming about shoving things up my arse! What did I do now? 'Within a Month' on the flip (and as one of the bonus CDs trax) is exclusive and features Parish intoning text from Hamlet through an old toilet siphon or sumat. Sounds like Gallon Drunk playing at a country carvery on a Sunday. I like the moody sleeve which looks like it's derived a classic painting. Ltd 7" & silver drinks coaster.PJ Harvey and John Parish team up to produce this menacing track, taken from their second album together 'A Woman A Man Walked By'. Zane Lowe first played it as his Hottest Record in the World, now receiving spot plays on Radio1.
