Here's a new album by Boxcutter. I lose count now but is it his second proper as Boxcutter? There was that weird Barry Lynn album that came out in between. You can't count that I suppose. That's a whole different sort of thing. Well it's a while since I've reviewed a dubstep release and I'm the one in the office who doesn't like it so giving me this is like giving a vegetarian a massive steak and telling them to eat it with just their hands. There's the odd good tune though so I wouldn't write it off as a genre... just think a lot of it is boring (says he who likes ambient drone....). Well this isn't particularly boring.... there's quite a bit going on in here what with the farting and spunking noises a plenty. It's got some wobbly trademark dubstep sounds in there, some songs are quite soully... others are more tech step. It's not bad at all but it's not ground breaking. Just decent quality electronica flavoured dubstep. It's not too dubby though.... like a lot of dubstep these days it appears to have lost it's dubby element. I asked around for some input from folks and got a truckload of fuck all back so that will have to do.
