Tiny Masters of Today! I love these little guys! Apparently former Norm-man Mingus Rude (gone but not forgotten) was a big fan too. Kids in rock are so often ridiculously irritating but this pair neatly sidestepped Hanson Drummer Syndrome by writing songs about things that kids should write about, like writing rude words on upside-down calculators and how George W. Bush is a dick. Nothing much has changed here, thankfully, with their hook-heavy brand of short, sweet lo-fi indie slacker rock as irresistable as ever. Buy a copy of 'Skeletons', it'll brighten up your day!

TINY MASTERS OF TODAY release their shockingly infectious new single Skeletons, on 13th April on 7" and download. Taken from their forthcoming second album, also called Skeletons, the single was premiered at SXSW in Austin, Texas in March '09.
The core unit of NY teen punk sensations, siblings Ivan and Ada (aged 15 and 13 respectively), is joined by drummer Jackson Pollis, and with Skeletons, the Tiny Masters went totally alone, producing and writing the entire album themselves. Largely recorded at home in Brooklyn, using the computer program Garageband, they took the songs to Seaside Lounge studio with engineer Patrick McCarthy for some additional recording and the final product was mixed by Matt Stein at U.W.M.S.C. in New York.

It has certainly been an action packed journey for Tiny Masters Of Today. Almost overnight, the band went from a few homemade recordings on a MySpace page to collaborating with Karen O and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Kimya Dawson, Fred Schneider (B-52s) and Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), being remixed by CSS and Liars, and touring the world. David Bowie even lauded their first homemade single as "Genius." Not bad for a band that double as full-time students back home in New York.
