PC Worship - NYC Stone Age

NYC Stone Age by PC Worship

4...according to our on Thu 30 Apr, 2009.

Justin Frye IS PC Worship and also props up such contemporary lo-fi luminaries as Gary War and the tribal squall of Teeth Mountain. 'NYC Worship' is a collection of eclectica & collaborative material recorded between '06 and '09, ranging from discordant, hazy slacker gems, stunted tribal jazz improv to woozy drunken psych pop. The general off-kilter madness is very fitting of this SHDWPLY imprint, i love the production on these records - proper old skool reel to reel tape recordings capturing progressive thinking musicians fannying around in basements attempting to hit on something new. I must admit there's a real odds'n'sods feel to this album but for fans of pioneering early 90s labels such as Siltbreeze & the likes of early Sebadoh or even some of the recent noise/dissonance output from acts such as Ashtray Navigations - this album has plenty of juicy sonic fallout & monged psychedelia to offer the casual yankophile. 300 only on vinyl

Another killer SHDWPLY release, PC Worship is Gary War / Teeth Mountain member, Justin Frye who lives in Brooklyn, Many of the recordings stem from a mix of song ideas, improvisations, and all night recording sessions at his studio space in the Market Hotel; a Brooklyn DIY space dedicated to putting on all ages shows. This collection of recordings was made between 2006 and 2009 and represents an era of colleective output and collaboration with many other local musicians. This particular collection of music was recorded on a TEAC 4-track reel-to-reel tape machine, a radio shack handheld cassette recorder and various computers. Although Frye spearheads this project, there are all sorts of other players involved and the live show can range from a solo performance to members in double digits. The sound is all over the board, containing elements of free jazz, grunge, psychedelic punk and pop to create a wash of consonant and disorientating sound....200 copies only.. handmade / silkscreened sleeves.... 200 of these getting made
