Sparks - Lighten Up Morrissey

Lighten Up Morrissey by Sparks

Blimey a new Sparks 7" single called 'Lighten Up Morrissey'. I thought he'd lightened up already. He was on the One show the other week and he said he went on it because his mam liked the programme. The Sparks should get off his case because he does stuff for his mam. I think they've missed the boat a bit on this one. If you're into shite glam rock you might be into this but I'd rather pull all my teeth out then bludgeon my face off with ninja stars then wash the wounds in the salty sea than be subjected to it again. Phil and Brett have found it catchy. Good lord.

"Following the monumental live performance of all 21 of their albums in 21 nights in London in 2008 Sparks return for two special nights at The Forum. On March 20 Sparks will perform their most recent album 'Exotic Creatures Of The Deep' and 1974's sensational 'Kimono My House', to be followed by a selection of assorted Sparks favourites.
On March 21 Sparks will perform 'Exotic Creatures Of The Deep' and 1979's Giorgio Moroder collaboration 'No. 1 In Heaven', plus a selection of assorted Sparks favourites. Whilst a repeat of the 21 night marathon of the Sparks Spectacular is extremely unlikely….ever…the demands for Sparks to return to Britain were such that Los Angelean brothers Ron and Russell Mael welcomed the opportunity to perform once again in the city that has embraced their music so wholeheartedly. Choosing to partner two profoundly different albums with their current, and 21st, album 'Exotic Creatures Of The Deep' - as if to underline the diversity of a career that spans four decades - the two nightswill see the masters of reinvention taking genre-hopping to a new level as they embrace glam rock, disco, art rock and pop opera.

Ant, get a life buddy!  Sparks have been around for years and been breaking a lot of musical boundaries which is something I'll bet you wish you could only dream of doing.

This is one of the most earthy and radio friendly songs that Sparks have released as a single in ages.  With the current onslaught of American artists invading the UK Top 40 again, this song definitely deserves to be a Top 3 hit right up there with "This Town" after the rather nasty and unfair snubbing the band have had with radio airplay over a couple of songs on their last album.

Ant, I think I'll save my money to give you an ear transplant for Christmas, as you'll need a new pair once the die hard Sparks fans have finished with you.  Lighten up, Ant!
