J Tillman - Minor Works

Minor Works by J Tillman

"Intimate, confessional...lovely, late-night album " **** - MOJO
"Let's face it. There is no better album for drinking whisky in a rocking chair while taking a bubble bath to. Seriously, try it. - KEXP DJ Rachel Ratner's Top 10 2006
"... this is a wonderfully surefooted debut packed with hope, desperation, blood sweat, and tears." - The WORD magazine (UK)

Championed by Damien Jurado, J. Tillman is a young songwriter out of Seattle where the folk scene revival is currently in full swing (Rocky Votolato, Band Of Horses). Already the author of two self-produced albums, this fan of Bob Dylan and The Band now releases Minor Works, his first album to enjoy normal distribution (i.e. more than the hundred or so copies to which he'd previously been limited). Sitting somewhere between the haunting atmospherics of Jesse Sykes' ballads and the prodigiously melancholic Americana of The Scud Mountain Boys, the folk of J. Tillman also relies on impeccable songwriting, of which the splendid “Crooked Roof ”and “Jesse’s Not A Sleeper” are without doubt the finest examples.
