NME ‘Electro-dreamy, Friendly Fires-meets-Empire Of The Sun qualities.’
THE GUARDIAN ‘Dan Black’s future looks very bright indeed.’
Anyone who even glanced at the end of year polls for who to watch out for in 2009 won’t have been able to miss Dan Black’s name. Off the back of his incredible Notorious BIG cover ‘Hypntz’ and the electro anti-love gem ‘Yours’ – the Parisian-based-Englishman was hailed as one of (i)the(i) pop talents to watch out for in 2009 by critics across the board.
Brilliant new single ‘Alone’ looks set to live up to, and exceed, all that hype.
A collision of Scritti Politti and Prince, the new single is a euphoric out-of-the-box hit – and highlights Black’s radical, chic and futuristic approach to songwriting. With a soaring cosmic electronic landscape - ‘Alone’ - has an out-of-this-worldness that’s unique to Dan Black.
His highly anticipated forthcoming debut album will be released in May 2009 and is currently being recorded in an 18th Century cellar under Dan’s apartment in Paris, before it’s mixed by Tom Elmhirst (Hot Chip, Amy Winehouse, The Kills) in London.
Catch Dan and his band live on the road when they join Boy Crisis and Master Shortie on the Wonky Pop tour this February and March.
