What their label says...

TRACKLISTING: A) Manifesto, B) Bittersweet Destiny,

OVERVIEW: Defend Moscow will release their debut single 'Manifesto' on 9th March through Kids Records, the label responsible for launching the careers of The Wombats, The Whip, Band of Horses, Middle Class Rut, and Kyte. Based on the life of Bolshevik revolutionary and Marxist theorist Leon Trotsky, 'Manifesto' is a dance floor destroying statement of intent with lyrics inspired by Trotsky and the idea of being devastatingly betrayed at a deserved moment of glory (Your typical pop song about love and heartache then). Born through a chance meeting between friends Jon Beck (vocals) and Dave Fawbert (guitar/synths/programming), and Norwegian siren Sofie Storaas (vocals) in Bergen Norway a year ago, the three bonded over a shared love of classic and contemporary electro, pop and indie, and Russian vodka. The line-up was completed when drummer Adam Pickering and Parisian bassist Rick Elmos joined the ranks and Defend Moscow immediately set to work writing tunes which recall the likes of New Order, Human League, Pet Shop Boys, as well as their modern contemporaries New Young Pony Club and Ladyhawke. Despite being very much in their infancy, Defend Moscow have already clocked up support slots with Sam Sparro, The Wombats, Sneaky Sound System and Team Waterpolo. Defend Moscow are planning to tour extensively through 2009 - including a trio of launch parties in London, Bergen and Paris - and with an abundance of killer tracks they are set to lead an electro-pop revolution.
