Apparently Peacefrog are to re-release the Return To NY album from AK-Momo which originally came out through Hidden Agenda. As a taster they've put out a 7" single and they appear to have dropped their prices on the 7"s which were getting a bit out of hand at one point. So what you get is a spooked out tune from this Swedish band who employ a mellotron to created a seriously haunted pop number with sultry, breathy female vocal and a sombre atmosphere that recalls Portishead. 'Greasy Spoon' is limited to 300 copies. Everyone reckons that you cant enjoy a good greasy spoon if you're a veggie but I beg to differ. Come round mine for a full veggie breakfast and eat your words (and your breakfast). You could even eat it off this record if you think its crap (which it isn't.)· Sweden’s AK-Momo are a duo, comprising musical
archaeologist Mattias Olsson and singer / lyricist /
keyboardist Anna Karin von Malmborg.
· Based on a trove of arcane instrumental exotica and
gilded by some of the most magically bewitching vocals
heard since Alison Goldfrapp first yodelled from ‘Felt
Mountain’.
· At the heart of that sound is the Mellotron, the iconic,
1960s tape-based, proto-synthesiser most recently
deployed by the likes of Radiohead and Portishead and
which most famously graced the Beatles’ ‘Strawberry
Fields’.
· Available on limited edition 7” (300 copies).
