The World In Your Eyes by Loop

5...according to our on Thu 28 May, 2009.

I can't say I've ever really bothered with Loop, probably because I'd always had the vague impression (based on what exactly I'm not too sure) that they were pretty much a poor man's Spacemen 3, but with this recent raft of reissues from Reactor I've been thinking maybe I should check them out properly so the fact that The World In Your Eyes, a three CD compilation of their singles in chronological order, has landed in my review pile is pretty handy. My swift conclusion is this: they were actually really good and although they sound inescapably of that time, there's more than enough of their own thing going on here to mark them out from the other scuzzy droney garagey guitary psychy bands doing the rounds back then (and now, come to think of it). Of course, if you're a fan you'll already know this and will be ordering this definitive puppy on sight but if you've had your interest piqued by the recent shoegaze revival or the dreaded Wooden Shjips and want to get on to the harder stuff there's certainly much worse places to start than this set.

Next in the series of long overdue LOOP reissues is a super deluxe 3CD compile of all the LOOP singles: Singles compilation “The World In Your Eyes” will be re-released in a 3CD remastered set, all the 12”s and compilation tracks in chronological order, with some demo tracks along the way, featuring tracks from the very first Loop demo, “16 Dreams” single, “Spinning”, “Collision”, “Black Sun” and “Arclite” as well as the Nick Drake tribute on Imaginery, the Neil Young tribute Comp on No. 6 Records, the “promo” Live 12”, and even the Godflesh cover version from their split on Clawfist. Thus rounding up the reissues with a brace of real career spanning releases, from the very first demo, to the band’s last recordings.. packaged as 3 CDs in wallets in a slipcase: to fit alongside the other three 2CD sets.  27 tracks from 6 12” releases, and 4 compilations, and 2 tracks from the bands first ever demo……incredible stuff,…

I've been through hell and back (literally) and this world sucks!!! I was oblivious for the first 41 years of my life as I was a mushroom, drinking, doing drugs and partiying my life away. But, when I woke up I wished that I had stayed asleep! There is so much greed, corruption and immorality in this world it's not a wonder things are so screwed up. To fix this world God needs to wipe us out and start over, like he supposedly did before. I say supposedly because I have doubts about the Bible because MAN had his twisted hands on it. Man says it is the inspired word of God but how can I trust man??? Throughout the history of the world man has proven over and over again that he can't be trusted. Must God really expect us to trust in man? I don't think so!!! It all boils down to greed, power and control. Don't get me wrong, I know that there are a lot of good souls out there who would change things for the better and they really care but just try to get elected president here in the US and see what happens. The powers that be don't recognize people that aren't in the "Boys Club". If you don't  play the game of greed (greasing palms) then you don't stand a chance!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May you all have a very Happy New Year, but really now, isn't it just another  "OLD YEAR"?
