Morrissey’s brand new single “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris’” will
be released on 9th February 2009 on Polydor on three physical formats.
The single will be supported by two new songs “Because Of My Poor
Education” and “Shame Is The Name”, the latter featuring additional
vocals by Chrissie Hynde plus a live version of ‘Death Of A Disco
Dancer’
The single is taken from Morrissey’s forthcoming new
studio album “Years of Refusal” (16th February) which was completed
earlier this year at Conway Studios in LA with the late Jerry Finn,
producer of Morrissey’s acclaimed 2004 UK No.2 album “You Are The
Quarry”. Morrissey describes the new album, the follow up to 2006’s
“Ringleader of The Tormentors” (a UK No.1), as his strongest work to
date. The 12-track album includes a clutch of new songs played live in
recent months including “I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris”, “Something
Is Squeezing My Skull”, “Mama Lay Softly On The Riverbed” and “One Day
Goodbye Will Be Farewell”.
After selling out London’s Royal
Albert Hall on May 11th and two homecoming shows at the Manchester
Apollo on May 22nd and 23rd in 15 minutes, Morrissey will embark on a
full UK Tour in May 2009 with mainland Europe dates to follow in June.
As
part of his ‘Tour of Refusal’ world tour kicking off in the US in
February, Morrissey will start his May 2009 UK tour at Stirling Albert
Hall on Monday 4th and finishes with additional London shows at Mile
End Troxy Ballroom on 26th and London Brixton O2 Academy on
28th/29th/30th.
