Part man, part machine, part cockatiel, Cage & Aviary takeflights of fancy whenever they can. Jamie Paton is a DJ,a one-finger keyboardist, and a pot-tickler. Nigel of Bermondseyis a musician, South Londons finest oscillator, and a dedicated dabbler. Together they are self-describedwinners of the cosmic lottery.Having put out releasesto underground acclaim on the limited-editions UK dancelabel Dissident Distribution, they are now set to spreadtheir wings with new ventures forthcoming on Paris-basedAstro Lab Recordings, Londons Tiny Sticks, and nowDFA via the Death From Abroad imprint. This single re-releases the one-sided Dissident 12-inch,Television Train, and comes backed with a new, equallyimpressive showing, Suburban.Recently, Cage & Aviary have taken it upon themselvesto remix six cherry-picked artists and release each as part ofa series on their own label, The Walls Have Ears. Takinginspiration from early 12-inch extended mixes, each recordwill feature a vocal mix and a dub on the flipsidethe firstof which is their take on UK band The Bow Mods single,Country Girls.Paton heard them play the original live on6Music and was so impressed he hunted them down, andfrom here the concept took shape. The Bow Mods love theremix so much that it makes a cameo at the end of the videoto their new single, Seventeen Weeks.
