Theyre sweet dudes with an evensweeter sound, fi rst honed on a killer single called (I DontWanna) Smoke Marijuanab/w We Are the Only Animals,released on Erics Make a Mess imprint. Barely three minuteslong, each side tore the face off of the last days of2007, revealing a candy skeleton that had the Modern Loversteeth marks in it.The groups self-titled debut is a grower, with ten newsongs in a markedly more pop direction. You can hear thesimple American pleasures of baseball, road trips and latesummer within, plain as day within this record. More specifically, you can hear three guys examining where punkbecame something more, between notions of power popand advanced songwriting on the Embarrassment/Big Dipper/Pointed Sticks axis, but with the economy of the Minutemenor Beat Happening.
