For some reason I've always found 'The Boys of Summer' by Don Henley incredibly depressing. It makes me feel a bit sick and I don't think it's just because he's a singing drummer who used to be in The Eagles. I'm just thinking about it now and it's forcing me to project a melancholy stare out of the window rather than listening to this Munitions CDr and reviewing it, which is bad since that's part of my job and staring isn't.. However much I wish it was. Trying to snap out of it, I will say that this a noisy old dronefest full of quality sounds that wouldn't sound out of place on old low-budget sci-fi/horror stuff. Brian reckons some bit of it sound like The Medusa Touch and Ant concludes that it's like the Clangers covering Whitehouse. Both of which sound like very good descriptions to my ears. It's definitely got a spacey sort of feel to it, a little bit reminiscent of that recent KK Null album that sounded well laser. Ant's on a comparison roll now, saying that it sounds like the Wolf Eyes offshoot Demons. Now Phil reckons it sounds like robots having sex. I don't know if I can take any more comparisons but it's the mark of good, interesting shit when they're flying around with this sort of regularity. Highly recommended!

3 Tracks of slow synth ecstasy from Ivan Pawle (Sea Dog, UBS)and Andrew Fogarty (Toymonger, Weil Rats)
Track three is Munitions Family Venn diagram reeling in subsets of Scented Candle and Toymonger.
