Etalon - Common EP

This new release called ‘Uniqueness’ (but strangely on an EP called Common is coming out on October’s (aka (aka Julian Raymond Smith) Caravan Recordings. And you can see why he was so keen to sign the boys up as they’ve delivered a potential classic. Bouncy, ping-pong and harmonic with a distinct analogue feel. It’s doing the business all over the place.

October features on the mega DVD Fluid Ounce Presents… so if Dave Vogado (half of Zero dB) you know we need to pay attention and he certainly got it when he released the fantastic Houston EP. October provides the lengthy remix on the b-side which drifts into “sonic design and experimentation” a la Radio Slave’s remix of Florian Meindl’s ‘8 Bit Romance’; i.e. it’s a bit of a subliminal grower.

Also, you’ll have also spotted the October/Caravan team are already booked in for next Bloc Weekend festival in Minehead (see current full line up HERE) with Caravan’s signing Emptyset appearing live.

It would be cool if Ugo and Philipp could make it as if ‘Uniqueness’ is the standard, it’s going to be packed out. And there’s no slowing down as their next release coming out in early 2009 is ‘Passé Composé’ with remixes by Emptyset and Stuttgart’s Alexander “discotronic” Maier.

And whilst you’re getting you’re head around all that, look out for Philadelphian Mathew Leutwyler remix of ‘Uniqueness’ that’s currently loaded on his myspace site (see links below). His remix has been likened to the work of Luciano so expect to see some Leutwyler vinyl out on Caravan in the near future.
