2562 makes an appearance on chum Martyn's 3024 label. What is it with the numbers. It confuses me. Anyway on first listen I almost fell asleep with total boredom but on second spin 'Embrace' isn't quite as dull as I'd initially thought. The beats are that garage/dubstep hybrid and there's some dubby sounds and chords/ stabs. It's not unlike Martyn actually. If you like this sound then I'm sure it'll appeal. The flipside is a 4/4 mid-paced techno cut with sharp hi-hats and big bottom end. There's some very nice little futuristic alien sounds coming in and out. Not bad at all but I couldn't really get into it as much as the 'Techno Dread 12" 'we welcome you to the fourth release on 3024 and our quest for numerologic beats for your body and soul
continues with two tracks from the dutch dubtechno hero 2562. Dave Huismans has treated us with a wonderful series of 12"es and his debut album "Aerial" (on Tectonic) this year which has gained him a well respected place in the dubstep and techno community.
On this new release he strips the music to its bare essentials - what is left is an extremely funky 2 step workout on "Embrace", where crisp beats are setting the pace until soothing pads take over and take it to another level."Hijack" shows us the shadow side of 2562,
also reminiscent of his work as A Made Up Sound on Shed's Soloaction label. "Hijack" is a driving four to the floor track with shards of synth pads and sounds floating freely around a menacing bass line. The massive tension in this track is never really unleashed which leaves you yearning for another play ; the 3024bots have had this on continuous repeat, and they hope you will enjoy thisoffering just as much. ---> 00011001010100011000 end of transmission Enjoy.
