Gagarin - Golden Cap

Golden Cap by Gagarin

4...according to our on Wed 14 Jan, 2009.

This 7" on Geo is by Gagarin and it kind of sounds exactly like I imagined it would based on that fact - spacey electronica. It's a good job I looked at the name first rather than the track title because 'Golden Cap' would've made me think it'd sound like someone pissing into a hat-shaped mould and wearing it around town. Brian's thrown up EU as a comparison and we reckon there's a hint of Amber-era Autechre in there too.. It's the hint of retro goodness that does it for me though, it almost sounds like it could be some kind of lost 80s electronic pioneer rather than a modern production, particularly on the B-side which I actually prefer. It's very good indeed and there's only 250 in the universe!

GAGARIN releases this very special limited edition 7" GOLDEN CAP ahead of the forthcoming album "ADAPTOGEN" due for release early 2009. Pressed on 40gm vinyl and limited to 250 hand numbered copies this very collectable artefact contains exclusive remixes of two tracks from Adaptogen. The Up & Down Mix of Golden Cap is a glorious journey of melody, rhythm and white noise climbing to a height of 192 metres before falling back to sea level. The Stop & Search Mix of Gavvers is a sonic picture of an urban dream full of tension, fear and final escape.
