The Housewives - Cream

Cream by The Housewives

4...according to our on Wed 31 Dec, 2008.

Here's the Housewives with their single called 'Cream'. I can't help but think that's a bit dirty.... having housewives and cream in the same sentence. Maybe it's all totally innocent and it's about some cream for a lovely Victoria sponge or something. You've got filthy minds you lot for putting that in my mind. I quite like the drums in this... all banging and syncopated with a nice farfisa organ parping around in the background. It starts off with male vocals and then lunges into female vocals about mid way with no warning. Not that there should be a warning but it would have been nice if someone would have told me first. Some bands have no manners.....The repetitive keyboard refrain makes the song in my book as I can't get the fucker out of my head on the second listen. Mind you whoever wrote the 'moonpig dot com' jingle needs destroying as that swirls around my head on an hourly basis ruining every single hour of every single day. This is gonna appeal to fans of The Hussy's and The Chalets if anyone remembers them. We did get 2 singles in by 'em but I'm only reviewing one of 'em as I'm too busy.

Cream
Charming
Ballad (Housebound Remix)

ARTROCKER - 'Cream' has more hooks than a butcher's shop window
NEON BUZZ - 'Cream' is a ramshackle pop riot that could make even a cripple dance, mixing elements of a million different musical genres into one four minute slice of party perfection... Lyrically dirty and musically adventurous, The Housewives are full of backstreet charm and lo-fi fun – a winning combination, I'm sure you'll agree.
IS THIS MUSIC - any band that opens their new release with backing vocals sounding like Donna Summer's 'Love To Love You Baby,' and still produce an exciting and innovative recording, deserves success... Excellent stuff indeed.
MANCHESTER MUSIC - Strange but utterly compelling
SUBBA CULTCHA - Playful new wave with stranded guitar lines and some sumptuous "ooh's" keeping it surging onwards - TH are unlike most right now, and certainly leave an indelible impression in your sub conscious, defo worth a curious listen!
