A split 7" between Kid Canaveral and Come on Gang. the Kid Canaveral side is lovely sunny Belle and Sebastian style pop with a slight nod to our Australian friends the Go-Betweens. Flip the record over and you get Come on Gang now this one does start off sounding like the Go-Betweens (or Even As We Speak) before erupting into tuneful but slightly forgettable indie pop. It does everything good pop music should do but just neglects to add that bit of magic to make it memorable. Still this is a fine split single on Straight to Video records with the added bonus of coming with a Cd of the songs so you can pop them into your computer thing.Brand new 7" single from our friends at Straight To Video Records. It's a split single from Come On Gang and Kid Canaveral ...
Straight To Video newcomers Come On Gang! are Trev Courtney (bass & voice) Michael Morrison (guitar & voice) and Sarah Tanat-Jones (voice & drums). They met in early 2007 at Edinburgh College of Art and have been rather busy ever since. 2008 has seen the release of their debut single “Wheels” (on Euphonius) to rave reviews, a performance at T in The Park and an invitation to play the 2009 SXSW Music Festival in Austin, Texas - plus features in both the Scotsman and The List magazine. Embraced by, and played on Jim Gellatly and Vic Galloway’s respective XFM and BBC radio shows, Come on Gang! have been creating quite a stir with their energetic live shows and sublime supercharged pop.
"If I stop right now, and really listen, to the rhythm..."
Start The Sound is a slow-burner of a tune with a melody that you won't be able to shift from your brain. Gradual building guitars, lilting, fragile vocals but still that pop-punk beat that's bound to get you dancing. Lovely stuff.
