You know that woman who's in the X-Men who fucks people up when she kisses them? I think the singer from Screaming Mimi must be the natural evolution of that concept with her 'Electric Thighs' - she'll take you home, you'll crawl into bed all excited like, then suddenly spark start flying to an exaggerated crackling sound and before you know it you're running around the room screaming about your singed and smoking groin. Monks have got it right man, it's an erotic minefield out there. The three tracks on this CD single remind Brian and I of the Long Blondes, particularly her voice and the clever-clever lyrics. I reckon it falls somewhere between the sadly defunct Sheffield popsters and Rilo Kiley.. Good high-tempo indie guitar stuff on Phantom Power.

Everybodies favourite alt-noir nouvelle popsters return to give us a taste of what's in store on their forth-coming debut album due early 2009 with a twisted alt-country tune with a sting in the tail.
