I'm listening to Language and Movement by Blood On Tape and I'm thinking how there should be a little segment on Saturday morning kids TV called 'Drone Corner'. The presenter would lead an energetic movement of children away from the gunge tanks and patronisation like a Pied La Monte Young Piper and they'd all sit around on bean bags listening to the week's drone releases, shouting out soundalikes. On this week's episode they'd be shouting out "A vacuum cleaner!" and "Coming up on pills made predominantly of bricks!" and "The ocean lapping at a sieve-shaped theremin!" and "I genuinely can't hear fuck all is the CD player turned on I can't tell!" And then the studio would go all black and Mr. Pipes has eaten them all.During the summer Blood on Tape sent me a package containing some really superb improvised drone tinged music.I was very impressed and it was obvious they were brimming with interesting ideas. They eventually sent me a new piece they had been working on which turned out to be "Language & Movement".This is a 24 minute piece which slowly evolves, gradually morphing in and out of different themes starting quietly with what sounds like chattering bird noises. The cd is available now in a hand numbered edition of 47 copies featuring a stencilled organic design. Its also Reverb Worship release number fifty and has the new RW logo on its reverse.
