The Pistil Cosmos - Wandering In The Dark

Wandering In The Dark by The Pistil Cosmos

It's rare to get a CD release on The Great Pop Supplement and here's one in a lovely printed Arigato pack by The Pistil Cosmos who had a disc out the previous week on Dead Pilot Records and has also recorded for Blackest Rainbow. From the off this sounds very beautiful. 'Wandering In The Dark' opens the set with it's lush considered tones and builds into a gorgeous spectral piece. 'Celestial Conversation' is a sleepy droney track with layers of guitar and effects. By the time we get to 'Carbon Forest' we've reached a wonderful lo-fi noise fuzzy droney ambient state. Closer 'Mrr Prr' is a dreamy and hypnotic tune which I can well imagine drifting away to on my headphones on a cold winters evening. Recommended.

This one’s a beauty, a total killer 5 track CD from Frenchman Vincent Caylet, aka “The Pistil Cosmos”. Having previously recorded a number of wonderful cassette and small run CDR’s as “V”, notably the recent awesome “The Chanting Path” on Blackest Rainbow, this new set is an absolute must for all ya space, drone folk, vuh heads out there.
Five pieces of exploratory, spectral, drone laden psychedelia, that veer from the feel of scratchy field recordings through Popol Vuh flavoured slow builders to the lo-fi noise of prime era Flying Saucer Attack. From gentle, subtle ambience to feedback drenched noise then back again.
Just 200 copies of this one, and each is dressed in beautiful duo-colour screened wallet sleeves.
