This record left our Brian feeling happy.

'Magic Doors' is another storming track from that utterly wonderful "new" Portishead LP. Another contrast, this is the one with the strange lolloping broken hip hop beat, a ponderous piano, the tragedy imbued wail of Beth Gibbons and some surreal psychedelic touches that just powder everything in a cerebral fog of wonder. It's another one sided etched 12" thing but this one ain't beautifully dystopian like 'The Rip'. It's basically a magnified segment of Roger Hargreaves' Mr Messy, A scrawl so delightfully rubbish that it's actually quite appealing (but still an awful waste of the earth's resources - EcoBrian)

Magic Doors is the final single to be released from critically acclaimed Gold album ‘Third’. Certainly one of the albums of the year, ‘Third’ has put Portishead back on the map again and this final offering from the record will compliment the precious singles from this campaign.

The 12” format will once again be a one sided etched piece of product, which have proven so popular with the fanbase.
