Kings Of Leon
Use Somebody

This record left our Brian feeling sad.
I'm a lucky bugger, I really am. I've copped for the new Kings of Leon single. I've been informed they've transformed themselves into open shirted thrusting young studs who reduce teenage girls into writhing nymphs glistening with hyper sexual tension. Or something. 'Use Somebody' is actually the most plodding pedestrian piece of radio chod I've heard them cough up between lines of high grade charlie in their plush air con studio high rise villa. Only marginally more bearable than the likes of Nickelback who I'd honestly applaud if they were to be involved in a mid air collision with the fist of God. Don't get me wrong here. 'Aha Shake Heartbreak' was, is and always will be a startlingly vibrant & athletic piece of southern fried new wave rock, a great "sophomore" LP. Now they're plumbing the depths of creativity with earnest, exhausting balladeering that actually has you yearning for the days of the furry freak brother look they first foisted onto the world. Bloody excrable. The Lykke Li re-jig of 'Knocked Up' is marginally more listenable but ultimately forgettable. Interesting to see they've integrated a recycle symbol on the back of the 7". I'd be throwing mine straight in the friggin' wheelie. On RCA.
