Pull In Emergency - In Silence

In Silence by Pull In Emergency

4...according to our on Fri 12 Dec, 2008.

I really quite like this Pull in Emergency band. The singer is pictured on the sleeve with a big piece of gaffa tape over her gob which is a bit cruel, she's only about 15 and hasn't really had the breadth or scope of life to express her opinions properly yet so I therefore feel the poor wee lamb should be freed immediately. If you turn over, you'll notice all her bandchums have been kidnapped and similarly gaffa'd up. They all look a bit scared. Maybe it's a visual metaphor bemoaning the lack of record buying public strangling the music industry & keeping bands out of pocket & ultimately downloads been the death of music or something. Or perhaps it's because the song's called In Silence. Being a perky, melodic classic indie number, I like the way it ends up straddling the divide between old C86 & modern dynamic guitar pop. I think she's got a strong sassy voice on her and all the dinky, rambling guitar shapes and perfunctory drums create a cool little tune that sits somewhere between Thomas Tantrum & the as-yet-to-be-unleashed Pencil Toes. North London’s PULL IN EMERGENCY are set to release their second single on the Mute Irregulars label on the 15th December 2008.

A double A Side featuring ‘In Silence’ and ‘Planes’, the new single is released on seven inch vinyl and download and is the follow up to the band’s debut ‘Follow’, which sold out in a matter of days on its release in August.

The PULL IN EMERGENCY line up of Faith Barker (Lead Vocals), Alice Costelloe (Guitar / Keys / Backing Vocals), Dylan Holmes (Bass / Vocals), Frankie Bowmaker (Lead Guitar) and Suneet Chohan (Drums) formed at their school at the end of 2006. One of the stand out bands at this year’s Bestival and Underage Festivals, over the last twelve months the band have played shows across the UK and are heavily involved in the thriving All Ages scene. Counting Zane Lowe, Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens amongst their fans, they’ve recently recorded sessions for Radio 1 and XFM and were invited to play at the BBC’s Electric Proms in Camden in October.

Currently in the studio, PULL IN EMERGENCY will also feature on a special compilation of some of the bands appearing at this year’s Underage Festival. Including tracks from the likes of Gallows, Poppy & The Jezebels, Foals and Ipso Facto, Sam Kilcoyne’s Underage Festival Compilation will be released on Mutte Irregulars in early 2009.
