Jessica Bailiff - Since Always EP

Since Always EP by Jessica Bailiff

4...according to our on Thu 20 Nov, 2008.

Jessica Bailiff has been knocking around for ages. She's well popular around these parts and here's a brand new CD EP on Distant Noise. Ridiculously limited to 100 copies so it's probably sold out by the time you've got to the end of this as we only have a few. All hand numbered they are... so they're all special. I like it when folks make the effort. It's one long ish track which appears to have 5 titles. Maybe it's 5 different acts of one piece of music. I suspect it's that come to think about it. Imagine having 5 titles for one song. That would be silly. Jessica makes some beautiful sounds on here but that's what you'd expect from someone with her caliber (umpteen releases on Kranky etc...). Speaking of Kranky this sounds like it could have out on said label. Beautiful acoustic guitars with strings, lots of spacey effects and her delightful vocals which drift around the music like clouds in a autumnal sky. I can occasionally be poetic. Shame we couldn't get more of the 'Since Always' EP as it's well good!

Distant Noise Records is pleased to announce its last single artist release of the year, an EP by Jessica Bailiff.

“Since Always” is every bit as essential as her previous solo work and collaborations.

Like the aural equivalent of a train journey, fragmentary scenes flash by as fragile acoustic interludes textured with voice and guitar blur into huge ambient soundscapes, creating a whole that is beautiful and entrancing.

A brief escape into a beguiling world, a journey to remember.
