Another Fence release this week is by Found. It's a 7" called 'You're Really Quite The Catch'. Now, with it's strummy groove & Scots burr this is quite a cool little number with a faint whiff of The Beta Band or Simian and an underbelly like Malcolm Middleton doing samba. I like the detached post rock guitar that sounds like it's wandered in from the recording studio next door, bored shitless of being utilized in a dull instrumental opus & much prefers the homely psychedelic folk pop of these guys. Yes this song is infectious and rather great, as was the last one if I recall. The flip is a melancholy sing-a-long embellished with the usual DIY homespun electronics. The digital frog noises are just sublime. I want that sound as a ring tone. 'Admission Number Two' has been fiddled around with by that King Creosote chappie. He must be the proprietor of said musical frogs. Must e-mail him. Gotta have those frogs. Ribbit......white vinyl 7" only.‘You’re Really Quite The Catch’ is the latest single from our bleep-hop boyband, FOUND - and finds the band in fighting pop form. Pinched from recent album This Mess We Keep Reshaping, the song has been tweaked a wee bit. It's coming out on gorgeous white vinyl, and is backed with a remix by King Creosote.
On the A-Side, frontman Ziggy Campbell’s drunken slur is raspier than ever, and there’s now a female foil to his flirtation. These stunning backing vocals come courtesy of Lisa Lindley-Jones (British Sea Power, King Creosote, Jon Hopkins), and make for a match in heaven.
SIDE A - You're Really Quite The Catch (Alternative Mix)
SIDE B - Admission #2 (King Creosote's Admission #9 mix)
