Spider & The Flies - Something Clockwork This Way Comes

Something Clockwork This Way Comes by Spider & The Flies

4...according to our on Fri 30 Jan, 2009.

Good old EMI. Turning up in a box really late on Friday from them is an album by Spider & The Flies, 2 guys from cult goth garage rockers The Horrors. Now don't expect the usual, this music is spooky android electronica and loopy aquatic krautrock somewhere between the Radiophonic Workshop & early Metronomy with a strong whiff of old Mutesters Appliance & Add N to X in there. The production is quite impressive, there's some cracking sounds & effects being thrown around. I prefer the parts without the beats, like there's one bit that's quite Cluster-esque in it's execution - real dark weird cosmic shit that's threatening to suck my face off into a black hole! So for yr cash you're getting some proper weird voodoo-tronica and sideways electro from these boys, real android stalker disco, all great fun, if not a little quirky. 'Something Clockwork This Way Comes' is on LP/CD

As they say on their MySpace page...

"We're orbiting a planet near Eta Carinae (look it up) right now and the view is beautiful, however we have to return on Monday because that's when we're mastering our new and improved Mini LP. It's been in the freezer so long we've had the chance to put some more tracks on it. We also apologise for the long wait suffered, this was just down to internal workings at EMI. We plan to get this record out asap and then follow it as soon as we can with another. Release will be swift...we hope...and very much worth the wait."
