Gossamer albatross - The Ground Will Take Us Down

The Ground Will Take Us Down by Gossamer albatross

4...according to our on Thu 13 Nov, 2008.

We got our mitts on the debut 7" from Gossamer Albatross. 'The Ground Will Take Us Down' was recorded and mixed by Hugo Manuel of Jonquil fame. This is essentially a folk pop record with acoustic guitar and fiddle, brimming with heart and soul. This isn't a genre I'm particularly fond of but this is a decent tune. Good honest music with a slightly raw edge which I quite like. I just said to Phil "As far as folk pop goes this is way better than Johnny fucking Flynn' and he insisted that I put that sentence in here. So there. Out on Bailiwick.

“The Ground Will Take Us Down” is the debut single from
Hereford-based quartet Gossamer Albatross. The two
tracks have been recorded and mixed by Hugo Manuel of
future folk-pop legends Jonquil and as well as supporting
some of Jonquil’s UK shows, the last two years have seen
Gossamer appear alongside Grammatics, Casiotone,
and Youthmovies, among others. They will make their
first festival appearance at End of the Road 2008, having
been included by the organisers in their ‘chosen ten’, and
will tour in October/November in support of the record.
Marking the first release on Bailiwick Records, and
building on the success of their sell-out EP of last year on
a local label, “The Ground Will Take Us Down” provides
one of this years most heartening moments."
