Hot Flush geezer Scuba get's some excellent remix treatment from Martyn who along with Flying Lotus seems to be remixing everyone these days. I must confess to having somewhat of a soft spot for his style. This mix of The Upside really does it for me. He teakes things into a deeper heady direction with less emphasis on the 2 step stuff he does and really bringing the synths to the fore adding a delicious trancey element to the tune. Wonderfully crispy hats and crunchy 909's. The Jamie Vex'd mix is squashed to fuck and pretty dirty too. The bass is damned heavy and it's all well wonky. I suspected for a moment that the label on this 12" may well have been the wrong way round... Lord knows but that first mix is just wicked.

Martyn is one of the new stars of dubstep, having almost single-handedly started a 2-step revival and released some of the most sought-after music of 2008 on his own 3024 label. One half of influential dubstep innovators Vex’d, Jamie has recently been working alone, and this is the first of his solo productions to be released.
