Now a rather wonderfully packaged white wax 7" in black on black printed sleeve from These Are Powers, a band that includes ex members of Liars, Knife Skills and No Things. 'Silver Lung' is kinda nightmarish with its primal bass chugs and almost mechanical feel with both male and female vocals chanting and wailing creating a very uneasy and paranoid atmosphere. The percussion is sparse but works really well. The flipside offers up an equally disturbing vision of experimental rock with 'Funeral Xylophone's screeching distorted guitar and vocal screaming 'Son of a Jackal' (I think). The best is saved till last with 'Crows Of Troy' which is a pounding bombastic tribal percussive monster. A real heavy and primal sound on this 3 track EP. I'd say if you were a fan of Liars then I recommend giving this a whirl. Ltd edition on Elsie and Jack who have headquarters in the US as well as the exotic land of Hartlepool but I'll spare the jokes about hanging spying monkeys. These ex-members of LIARS, KNIFE SKILLS and NO THINGS express their abrasive avant noise rock with vigour
over this 3 track 7"e.p. [this is their first vinyl adventure after several well-received tapes and cdr's]
Anna's primal screams and ghostly whispers, Pat's nursery rhyme chanting with surging bass and Ted's near
motorik beats run riot like a crazed Plastic Ono Band filtered through that Brooklyn/NYC haze [see them live to
appreciate this fully - touring this month!]
this is elsie and jack’s first foray into the lair of lacquer : pressed on heavyweight white vinyl
presented in a beautifully printed and laser-etched black card sleeve with additional colour transluscent vellum inserts
