Fireflies - Cherry Blossom Girl/Les Belles Etoiles

Cherry Blossom Girl/Les Belles Etoiles by Fireflies

4...according to our on Thu 13 Nov, 2008.

New label time kids! Phil tells me that Papillons Noirs means 'black butterfly', he's a right Francophile that one. He listens to Serge Gainsbourg in one ear and Jacques Brel in the other while fiddling with garlic and playing an accordion with his feet. Apparently the label was pretty much born just to put out this 7" by Fireflies so it's obviously got something about it.. It's Fireflies covering 'Cherry Blossom Girl' by Air and it's very lovely, I'm not familiar with the original since I've never been into Air but this is proper airy Euro driftyness that makes you want to float off to sleep in the nicest possible way. If you get the same impulse then the beautiful music box melody on the other side will totally finish the job. If this single doesn't make you want to snuggle up to a badger with a content smile on your face then nothing will.

Papillons noirs is a new London Belfast 7” single imprint. We'll be issuing brilliant singles by Komon, Help Stamp Out Loneliness, Cloetta Paris in the very near future. Our first release is Chicagoian stargazer Fireflies' moonlight ride through the French band's cherry blossomed classic. Visit our shop to purchase yours from us, each copy comes with a papillons noirs badge with which to adorn your lapel or man bag. all the cool kids are wearing them round our way.
