For some reason I was wondering what Hudson Mohawk sounds like yesterday so it was a nice surprise to find this 'Star Crackout' 7" waiting for me when I got in today.. Trouble is, I still don't really know what he sounds like since we're pretty flummoxed as to which speed this bastard should be on since it sounds equally right/wrong on either. I'll take a guess at 33rpm, in which case the first two tracks here are almost ambient in feel, the crackles of the first side almost Caretaker-esque in evoking a feel of listening to a battered old record through some sort of foggy mental block. The second is a bit Wolfgang Voigt and the third goes for another feel entirely, being almost a chiptuney interlude. Can you have an interlude at the end? Probably not. Fuck knows what's going on with this but I liked it anyway.Tracklisting
