Trouble Books - The United Colours of Trouble Books

The United Colours of Trouble Books by Trouble Books

4...according to our on Thu 06 Nov, 2008.

This United Colours of Trouble Books LP is a pretty little thing. Apparently they've only done a hundred of them which is quite lazy when you consider that they've only hand drawn and painted the sleeves, done loads of drawings and written out the lyrics for the booklet that they've then sewed together. That's the trouble with young people these days, no work ethic. The album's got a lovely feel to it, cheap, cheerful and slack but still lush and dreamy.. It's quite unique in that way I think. Brian reckons they sound a bit like Thee More Shallows, Phil thinks maybe a bit of Sparklehorse. They're definitely a bit twee n'all. It does sound like they've got some sort of electronics on the go too but there's nothing listed up on the equipment list so I assume they're demons at using the old pedals to complement the rickety song structures. I think there's plenty of you out there who'll fall in love with this. Comes with a CDR of the album too!

"You could sort of curl and up just live in this music, cosy and forever.“

Tom Wyman - The Line Of Best Fit

"Trouble Books have such a wonderful sound that reminds me of that fuzzy daydream feeling you get when you are just waking up."

James Balf - 3 Bar Fire

“It’s a moving piece of art that aims to explore ambience and mood without skimping on the actual music.”

The Plugg

After self-releasing four albums on their own label, Bark and Hiss, back in Akron, Ohio, Trouble Books have joined forces with the new label          MIE Music to release a homemade vinyl limited edition of their critically acclaimed fractured fairytale of an album,

The United Colours of Trouble Books.

Trouble Books weave countless instruments of different

timbres in and out of multiple melodic lines, adding and dropping

sounds on airy whims. The sound is neither thick nor thin and avoids typical structures and directions. And yet something about the songs makes sense; the tracks stand as fragmented, shaky, imagistic portrayals of pop songs.

100 vinyl copies, all with CDRs, in lovingly hand-drawn and

painted packaging, complete with an 8-page booklet of drawings by the

band will be released on 1st November 2008.

MIE Music is a brand new record label based in London.

Initially set up to release Trouble Books' albums in the UK and

Europe, MIE is committed to promoting exciting gigs in London and to

releasing fresh, interesting music.
