Mark Pritchard is back in his Harmonic 313 guise, following on from the superbly Detroitian EP1 with a new four track 12" on the mighty Warp and I reckon this could well be the best thing they've put out for quite a while. Opener 'Dirtbox' (snigger) sets out to show all those pre-teen dubstep producers (most of them with at least a thousand records out before the age of twelve) exactly how it's done and it goes right for the jugular, kicking right in with a bassline that can only be described as 'phat n dutty' that just manages to keep your subwoofers on the right side of pharting. Throw in some Flying Lotus style beats and those electro homage sounds that he's rapidly making his own and you've got a pretty huge tune going. 'Arc Light' takes us through a funked-up headnoddyssey, a voice intoning '313' over the top of one of the most classic sounding old-school techno synth lines you're ever likely to hear.. I got proper tingles when it started up! 'The Returners' is a tad Prefuse-y and keeps things totally minimal with some ace crunky beats that make you think your speakers are spraying robots at you, it's one instance where less is definitely more. Then it's happy finish time with 'Wobbz' bringing back the sub-bass as the title telegraphs, sounding a little like some of those moments where Skream goes electronica (think '2-D' from Skreamizm Vol. 4). Bleeps bloops Speak & Spells rayguns rimshots brilliant. This whole package is what you get when a past master decides to take the fashionable young whippersnappers to task and not only shows them their place but actually pulls their actual pants down and smacks their bottoms until they're red raw. In the frozen section of Tesco. At 1pm on a Saturday. In front of that checkout girl they quite fancy. LIFE RUINING.

Another spectacular Harmonic production, from the man
behind such acclaimed guises as Link, Troubleman, NY
Connection, William Parrott, and Roberto Edwardo
Turner (The Returner), Global Communication, Jedi
Knights, Harmonic 33, Use Of Weapons with Dave
Brinkworth, Series 7 with Stephen Horne, Shaft with
Adrian Hughes, Vertigo with Daniel Whidett (Danny
Breaks), The 28 East Boyz with Kevin Hann, Chaos &
Julia Set with Dominic Fripp, Mystic Institute with
Paul Kent, and Pulusha with Kirsty Hawkshaw.
