Northern Valentine - The Distance Brings Us Closer

The Distance Brings Us Closer by Northern Valentine

4...according to our on Thu 06 Nov, 2008.

As I've got older and consequently more boring I've got more into drone music. I used to love it about 10-15 years ago and then got horribly bored of it. These days I'm back into it and I can't get enough of the stuff. Admittedly there's not much to it. Some nice chords strung out for ages with the odd throbbing here and there and you've got an instant drone classic... perhaps. Well Northern Valentine have a 5 track CD of droney feedbacky gear which indeed takes me back to the times of years ago when I was getting into all of that texan space rock. 'The Distance Brings Us Closer' kind of reminds me of that. It's a his band and wife duo making some beautiful atmospheric droney music which will appeal to fans of Labradford, Windy & Carl and Kranky Records in general. It's completely lovely stuff and if you're into a bit of soothing drone to chill you out after another shit day at work then this is gonna bake your cake. The Distance Brings us Closer is CD only!

Northern Valentine is husband & wife Robert & Amy Brown along with friends who join them from time to time. They have been writing & recording music since 1997 & have released material previously on acclaimed label Gears of Sand as well as on their own label Baresound.  We are glad to have them added to the Silber roster. They are from Philadephia, Pennsylvania & they love to play live shows. Depending on the performers, live shows can range from quiet and meditative drones to loud & fuzzy instrumental post rock, often within the same set.
