Machinefabriek means “Machine Factory”. You might expect a name like that for some Einstürzende Neubauten-like industrial act, but here that's not the case. At times Machinefabriek's music might sound harsh and abrassive, but never “industrial”. This music is more about combining distorted, raw sounds with subtle melodies and stillness, in a similar style to Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Tarentel, and Stars Of The Lid. The pieces for this recording were made just after the completion of Machinefabriek’s first full length 'Marijn' was finished in 2006. Despite the fact most other Mort Aux Vaches releases are live documents, this one is recorded at home, using mainly guitar and laptop. This is a patient record, one that slowly pulls you in with a fluidity which at times gives way to dark and crackly moments, much influenced by the Mort Aux Vaches CD by Oren Ambarchie, which Machinefabriek cites as “the ultimate statement in guitar-and-electronics-minimalism”. Packaged in heavyweight card & cloth-hinged fold-out wallet. Limited edition of 500 copies.
