HTRK - Ha/Panties (Live)

Ha/Panties (Live) by HTRK

4...according to our on Thu 20 Nov, 2008.

Nice to have a HTRK record again. This time a 12" on Blast First Petite. 'Ha' is pure mid-tempo experimental rock sleaze with a relentless bassline and pounding kick drum. The repetition is wicked and has me in a trance. This is heavy but with a dirty pop sensibility. On the flip is a live version of 'Panties' with a lush drum machine and huge scraping metallic noise all smothered in filth. A wonderful mechanical groove emerges with the vocal sounding like Kim gordon after going 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.

HTRK - spoken as "Hate Rock".  Jonnine Davis - Voice / Drum / Sleeve Design N Yang - Guitar / Loops / Synthesizer / Drum Machines
Sean E Stewart - Bass / Drum Machines  HA (5:12) A 21st century tribal disco lament & the shape of things to come as the lead song off their forthcoming album. A Faris Rotter dancefloor favorite. PANTIES (3:44) Visceral outpouring recorded live at Aunties Annies, in Belfast on 5th Dec 2007  The 23rd date of 24 shows supporting Liars in Europe 07. In 2007 HTRK demos were released as limited editions by Fire Records under the title "Nostalgia".  Playlouder said  "A musical suicide pact between Swans & Mazzy Starr"  New Noise said  "Now and again, something comes along that differs from the straight and narrow, offering possibilities that all is not the same and there is room for experimentation. HTRK are an example of this.  A  mysterious three-piece from Melbourne who reside in Berlin and London.  That in itself should tell you enough, we are talking cosmopolitan here and with that comes ideas. Together they produce material that is reminiscent of David Lynch, The Birthday Party and Pita and is an exercise in sublime tension and beauty.
